2. A and B can separately do a piece of work in 20 and 15 days respectively. They worked together for 6 days, after which B was replaced by C. If the work was finished in the next 4 days, then the number of days in which C alone could do the work will be how many days?

Answer with solution:

Work of (A+B) = 6(1/20 + 1/15)
= 7/10 part.

Remaining work after 6 days,
=1-7/10 = 3/10 part

Let C can do the work in X days.

= 4 x (1/20 + 1/X)
3/10 part.

so, 1/20 + 1/X = 3/40
so, X = 40.

Here C alone can do the work in 40 days.
